The education sector, the way of working and the work-life balance are all changing.

The covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the digital transition of sectors such as education and forced both, companies and employees, to adapt to remote work as a new norm and other major changes.

 WHAT ARE COMPANIES DOING?

Pictet (Switzerland) launches its first Fund of Funds focusing on technology.

Pictet Alternative Advisors has announced the launch of a $300Mln Fund of Funds, which will focus on investing in all sizes of funds and companies, from inception to “buy-out”.

Kahoot (Norway) raises €183Mln from SoftBank (Japan).

The Edtech focused on game-based learning systems, collects €183Mln from Softbank, which will own 9.7% of the company.

Spendesk (France) adds €15.2Mln to its Series B round.

The leading SME spending management platform has raised €15.2Mln more funding from Eight Roads Ventures (Bermuda) for its Series B round, uplifting the round to €58.1Mln.

Veritas Intercontinental (Spain) closes a €5Mln Series B round.

The Spin-off of US company Veritas Genetics, Veritas Intercontinental, has closed a €5Mln Series B round led by Charme Capital (UK) and Amadeus Capital Partners (UK).

WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD? 

The US is beginning to catch up with Europe in the economic recovery.
While the economic activity has seemingly been stable in countries such as Germany, France, Spain and Italy in October, it has increased significantly in the US.

France and the Netherlands join forces to slow down the market power of major US technologies.
France and the Netherlands have issued a joint communiqué with the intention that the bloc's authorities take preventive measures to fight the market power of the US technology giants.

World Bank to support developing countries in the purchase of covid-19 vaccines. 

The World Bank has approved the distribution of $12 billion to support the vaccination of up to one billion people in developing countries.
